Wow, that was painful. Regardless, thank you Jere! Your work is very much appreciated!!!

FWIW, uninstalling/reinstalling is not good enough. I needed to uninstall both DirMon2 and ShowAnalyzer, delete the "Dragon Global" directory, finally, reinstall both DirMon2 and ShowAnalyzer.

Dirmon2 v 0.5.2 seems to totally ignore "wait until target file is finished". I see the setting in the .ini, uninstalled the service and reinstalled, and nothing seems to help. Am I missing something?

This is with a SA Job...

My System:

MCE 2005
DVRMSTOOLBOX 1.0.9.6
SA 0.6.2
DirMon2 0.5.2

Has anyone tested DirMon2 on a Win2K system yet? Is it any more/less friendly than DirMon was on Win2K?

I'm investigating.

While I can't positively confirm that it works on Win2k, I did include the "Is the processor done yet" code form DirMon 0.2.3. So, in theory, it should work... in theory...

Default DirMon2: processors run twice if runtime exceeds polling interval

I can't say much for certain, either, as I haven't had time to perform much investigation (not even to see if the behavior also occurs on XP), but on my Win2K system it looks like a new job (for an existing process) is being queued if another polling cycle occurs before the currently running job completes:

2006-Feb-27 15:19:40 - Starting: "ShowAnalyzer" on "D:/Video/MPEG/Test-2006-02-27-0.mpg"
2006-Feb-27 15:40:48 - Finished: "ShowAnalyzer" on "D:/Video/MPEG/Test-2006-02-27-0.mpg"
2006-Feb-27 15:40:48 - Starting: "ShowAnalyzer" on "D:/Video/MPEG/Test-2006-02-27-0.mpg"
2006-Feb-27 15:44:06 - Finished: "ShowAnalyzer" on "D:/Video/MPEG/Test-2006-02-27-0.mpg"

So, I'm seeing everything being processed twice, but at least it seems to be limited to just twice :-)

What is the job? If it is SA, are you triggering on a txt file or an edl file?

Yes, it is SA, triggered by an mpeg file to create a Vprj file. VideoRedo (triggered by the Vprj file) also runs twice.

Then there's your answer. Since SA only creates a vprj file at the end of processing then as far as DirMon2 is concerned, it still needs processing.

I recommend you turn on the txt output and set the trigger to txt.

Thanks for the explanation and suggested workaround. I'm new to DirMon(2), and I guess my expectations were too high. Since it started the processor, shouldn't it know that it isn't necessary to queue another instance if there is already one running? I thought that was the behavior of DirMon, but of course, you'd know better (especially since I only ran DirMon for a couple of days before I noticed that you'd released DirMon2). Speaking of DirMon, is there a way to get a higher level of debugging sent to the log? I found the more explicit logging of DirMon very helpful when trying to understand the behavior being observed.

Thanks again for the helpful programs, and prompt response to posts!
