Default DirMon2 stuff

Great improvements Jere,

I would still like to see the SA bug still show up in the system tray when it is run from DirMon2. Seems like now when DirMon2 is run as a service then SA also runs under the service, hence no user interface. The UI is useful for debugging and tuning SA. Also, I agree that the password should be obscured in the .ini file (this applies to the webserver login password for SA, as well).

More comments on SA in the other branch.

Lynn

If you run the service as LocalSystem and enable "Allow service to interact with the desktop" (in Windows' service manager) then the bug will show up.

How about adding a Copy function to the job management list? I'm currently setting up DirMon to run a CLI that will move specific files from one location to another. Unfortunately, this utility (xmove) only supports one file type per parameter set (as far as I can tell anyway) so I had to create two identical jobs in DirMon2 with slightly different parameters. A copy button would have made this a little quicker.

Default xml files...

Since some of my files that are created in a directory not containing the dvr-ms and must be located there for the DVRMSToolbox to work correctly.

The ability to specify where the dvr-ms, mpg, etc are located before deleteing a file in another directory.

That may have not been enough info so let me know if you don't get my strage rambleings.

by the way, great program. Works better and has more fuction than filewatcher.

Thanks
Tom

Default Feature requests

Sorry I didn't see this thread when I posted my other request. Here are some first thought ideas on features to add to DirMon2.

1) Configurable log file directory. (See other post.)

2) Other criterion for processing/cleanup than file existance.
Not only would I like to use DirMon2 for comskip use, but also for log file management. I have a centralized log directory and would like to use DirMon2 to manage it. For the timed process, I'd like to archive older log files (weekly, monthly? dunno). For the cleanup process, I'd like to remove all log files older than 'x' days.

3) Blackout times that wrap around.
Currently my start/end times are 758 and 2359, respectively. I tried to have them at 758 and 201 (so it only does comskip checks between 2am and 8am), but it didn't seem to work.

Lots of other ideas too, but still not sure how everything works. Will submit as I learn. Is there any documentation, FAQ, or the like?

Default Ability to change file position in queue

It would be really nice to be able to select a file and move it up (or down) the queue. For example, I've been having some trouble with SA that means that my queue got fairly large. Right now we're watching a 2-hour movie that's way down the queue. It would be very cool to be able to increase its priority so that it gets processed as soon as possible.

Andy.

I find my self switching between using comskip and SA. It is quite a pain to keep configuring the DirMon each time I make the change. Is there a way to have two jobs defined, but only have one of the enabled? This way I could switch back and forth more easily.

My switching back and forth is due to me wanting to use SA and trying each new release, then switching back when it does not work

I'm getting ready to do this again with the new SA release . . .

Have you tried installing DirMon2 in two seperate folders, and setting one up for comskip and one for SA? I don't know if the settings are saved in the folder or not, but it might be worth a try.
