Default Questions about Dirmon2

1) How is the service installed? I've installed the latest version .0.5.5, but I don't see the service?

2) Is the service needed for it to work? Are there any docs? I don't quite understand how to get (or confirm) that Dirmon is running.

After you run the install program then open the DirMon GUI. The last tab will have the service settings where you can install and start the service. Some important things to note:
1) Changing any of the settings requires a save/stop/start to get the settings to "take".
2) Changing any of the service related settings requires a save/stop/uninstall/install/start of the service to get those settings to "take".

The service isn't required. You can run DirMon directly and a console window will pop up showing what DirMon is doing. If you don't want the console window you can use DirMonHidden instead. Of course, if you go that route, then you can only stop it via the task manager.

There aren't any docs per se, but this forum has a wealth of information. I'm sure that at some point I will get around to writing documentation.

If you are using the service, you can confirm it is running in the GUI, last tab.
If you are using the command line version, you can see the output in the console window.
If you are using the hidden version, umm... trust. If the command line version works then the hidden version should work since the only difference is the lack of the console window.

Looking at an older post, I put "txt" in the 'Must not Exist' trigger and "txt, log" in the 'target extensions' input field.

However, I not getting any activity...

Ideas?

Thanks! Dirmon is queuing and appears to be calling SA successfully!

Unfortunately, I spoke to soon about the calling of SA. I've got a full queue, but unless I start and restart the Dirmon service, the processing doesn't occur.

That is a wierd problem that I has been reported, but I have been unable to find a cause or solution.

Sometimes a restart (of the computer) lets DM2 do its thing correctly. I know that is a lousy answer, but it is all I have right now. I plan on redoing the looping mechanism in the future and that will (hopefully) fix this problem.
