Default SA starts before file is completed

I know this has been kicked around here before but how do you get Dirmon2 to start SA on a recorded file after the recorde file has completed recording?

I am running the latest version of Dirmon2 and SA. I have tried every setting and trick that I can think of and SA will start shortly after the file recording starts. The options in Dirmon2 for 'Wait until target file is finished', 'Wait until target file is idle' and 'Wait until targe drive is idle' do not work.

Thanks

Can you describe your system setup? IOW, are you using a network? What OS are you using? What kind of permissions are set up?

Setup: P4 2.53/1GB DRAM/XP Home SP2/PVR-250/BTV 4.3 - Schedule captures using BTV to dedicated HDD (S:/Video/TV Recordings/Watch) on the same computer that the capture card is in....SA and Dirmon2 do not need or do anything in regards to my network. Everything is done as Administrator, no one else uses this computer.

I have also tried the livedelay, values between 0 and 1200 but SA still starts within a very short time after the recording starts.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks

Try a wait until drive is idle with a delay of... say... 300. That should stop DirMon from processing if BTV is recording anything.

As a troubleshooting question, when BTV is recording can you watch the free drive space go down? What I mean is: go to a command line and type dir. It should show a directory list and then the free space on the drive. If you type dir again, does the free space go down? If not, does waiting 5, 10, or 60 seconds make a difference?

I did try that, I checked the wait till drive is idle and tried everything from 5 secs to 1200secs and there was no change in behavior. SA would start within a few seconds of the recording starting. If I remember correctly, the delay setting would not stick, when I went back into Dirmon2 it had defaulted back to 2 secs. I will verify this tonight. Each time I made a setting change in SA and or Dirmon2 I would first stop Dirmon2 then Uninstall. I would then make changes to SA and Save All and then Reload All. I then would open Dirmon2, install and then start. In many instances I even rebooted. If I made a change in Dirmon2 I would stop, uninstall, make the change, save and then install and then start.

I will try the dir thing. I do know that the file size is constantly updating and getting larger as the file is being recorded.

Update:

I did the 'dir' thing and yes the amount of free space is steadily changing (going down) as the file is being recorded.

Also, I confirmed that when I put a value other than 2 in the 'Drive Test Delay Time' it defaults back to 2 no matter what sequence is used to save the file. The box for 'Wait until the target drive is idle' stays checked but the time delay does not.

Hmm... interesting.

I have confirmed that the GUI doesn't load the setting correctly. It does seem to get saved correctly and used correctly but not loaded correctly. I've fixed it and am working on releasing another version that might help. Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow.

Ok, that should do it. Give 0.6.0 a try.

I gave it a go but....the problem now is that it does not seem to start. The boxes stay checked and values entered stay when saved. I need to play with it some more.

In the meantime I created an xml file for BTV and a bat file. This allows me to use SA in exactly the way that I want to. When a file is done recording the CustomPostProcessing xml in BTV starts SA. So far it is working well.

Thanks again!
