Hey, Hello,
I'm having a problem that pops up periodically (usually just before I decide to reinstall windows). I run Dirmon2 and ShowAnalyzer on my workstation with all the video files residing on The SageTV server. I use dirmon to launch Videoredo's Quickstream Fix through a windows batch file. (If a file doesn't play in SageTV, I find the mpg and drop it on a shortcut to make a trigger for Dirmon2 to start VideoRedo QSF on the afflicted mpg) The batch file runs Videoredo's vp.vbs script to launch the process and somewhere near or at the end of the windows batch file Dirmon looses track of the associated executing batch file, leaving a processor still running with a PID of zero that never clears. I launch Show Analyzer through a similar batch file and it doesn't seem to get lost by DirMon. Files of varying quality and length take varying amounts of time to process so I shy away from setting a timeout on the processor ... and if every file took the maximum amount of time ... I was looking through the logs after a daily reboot of my SageTV server and I found that as the connection was going down if Dirmon2 was scanning the UNC paths of the SageTV Server and only gets a partial directory list it attempts to delete all unmatching extensions, but if the connection is down nothing to worry about. Thanks for your time, Bobby ps -- tomorrow I'll be putting pause statements every few lines in the batch files to try and figure out exactly when the PID gets lost. |

Interesting. What I'll probably do is have DM2 kill the job if the PID turns up as 0. That might fix this problem.
Or it could blow up and you'd have an uncontrollable number of jobs running at the same time. ![]() Jere

It appears as if the process is just queued but "never launched" ... I'll do some more investigating ...
When it does happen none of the commands in the batch file are executed ... (although it would seem the batch file is started?) pausing it won't work as the command windows don't come up ... but I'll throw a few statements in the batch file to help trace it's progress. |

It did it a few times in the past ... but it hasn't done it again in the last few days ...
If restarting Dirmon2 Hidden doesn't fix it, sometimes a reboot or reinstall of windows does ... Here's to hoping it doesn't come back ... Bobby |

I'm having the same problem with version 0.6.1.40. The GUI will show a process with pid 0, and the process number never changes or updates. The log file shows '2006-Oct-01 20:52:39 - Starting: "PVR" on "G:/PVR2/EmerilLive-ShrimpAroundtheWorld-217312-0.mpg' for example, but it doesn't look like SA ever starts. There is no SA log file, nore .edl files as normal.
When I restart the dirmon2 service, this normally clears the queue, but sometimes it fails again while still processing the backlog. I tried to set the dirmon2 timeout to 3600 seconds for this job, but that seems to have no effect. I suspect dirmon2 is not detecting that the job it intended to start didn't, or (possibly) that the SA job did start but dirmon2 is not detecting a timeout. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ryan |

Hai,
I'am exactly experiencing the same problem with my batch file. Problem seems to occur when one of the conditions are met in the "when" box (e.g. target file is not finished). After finishing tye target file, the batch file will not be executed and the process that is still activated does not want to end even when timeout is enabled. Regards, JC |

What you are describing could be the cause of a race condition. I have an idea. (lightbulb!)
