Default Network Drives On Dirmon2

Hi there - I'm trying to use Dirmon2 to automate a PDF collation process...this works fine when I use a .pdf file to trigger it from the C-drive, but when I use a directory on a network drive, nothing seems to happen....

have tried different conventions to point at the directory, like:

//Fe_capsgroup/Capsgroup/Group/CAPSLive/Graphic_User/PDFOut/PdfTest

or

G:\PDFOut\PdfTest

but it doesn't seem to trigger, apart from on the c-drive of my desk-top. No doubt I've done something completely stupid, but can't figure out what. A nudge in the right direction would be appreciated....

Cheers!

Remember that Dirmon runs as a service. If you are running it as LocalSystem, then it probably doesn't have any permissions on the other computer and you will need to run DirMon as a user.

Hi there - many thanks for your help....

we've tried running it under User, but no luck. The drive giving us grief is on a Novell box, so someone's looking into Novell permissions, etc to see if that's stopping us in some way.

I checked the log file and found the message:

boost::filesystem::directory_iterator constructor: "G:\pdfout\pdftest": the system cannot find the path specified.

(sounds VB or C-sharp-ish; not an expert in either) Sounds like probably a generic error-message...dunno if there's a clue in there or not. Prob not.

We'll check the Novell side of things, but if you think of anything else, let me know.

Thanks!

That basically means the drive isn't mapped for the user that DM is running as.

I would recommend changing to the UNC name instead of the mapped drive. That will eliminate one possibility of problems. Then you can just make sure that the user you are running it on can access the drive.
