Default Service not installing

I've looked through the forum and haven't found anything, but if this has been answered already and i missed it i apologize.

I setup everything like is suggested in the install thread. However, when I click "install" for the service, nothing happens. I've tried uninstall then install, stop, then uninstall then install, and nothing. I reinstalled dirmon and that didn't help either. Any suggestions? I've love to get this working. Thanks!

Are you using a user that has a password and is in the administrator group?

Gerry,

I have the same install problem. I only have one user id/login as administrator. Is there something else I need to do?

Does that user have a password? It needs a password.

Partial Progress!

running program as administrator in 64-bit Vista let me get to "stopped" stage, but clicking "start" doesnt' get me any further.

edit - changing to "local system" instead of "user" let me get all the way through to started.

Hit "save" then restart and everything shows up. COMPLETE SUCCESS!

So it'll just run by itself going forward and process all the shows I have?

One question - I can't quite read your screen shot. Under "clean up" you have the extensions "edl, txt, vprj, log, frames.txt", right?

Another noobie question - I believe I have to open DIRMON and hit the Start button for it to do anything, right?

I really should build a 64bit machine to test my apps on.

If the service is set to automatically start, then yes, it should work its way through automatically.

That should be right.

I am having this issue as well. I am running a fresh install of Vista 32-bit, the account I am using has Admin privileges and does have a set password. I have verified these settings because I used the same login credentials for SageTV's service and it is running fine.

Any suggestions?
Any other info you would like?

I wouldn't mind forcing the service install from the command line if you can tell me which EXE it likes for the service.

Thank you,
Ian.

You might try to go into the services panel and manually set the user there. Right click on my computer and go to Manage. Then at the bottom of the list should be services.
