I ran screaming from Comskip because it missed the pre-show commericals and was way to difficult to fine tune. SA detected the pre-show commericals "out of the box", but there are a few tweaks needed. School House seems like a great start as a tool to tweak, but I do not know where to start. Plz help. If/when I can get DVRMSToolbox for XP and SA all working I will be a paying customer, a contributor and an all around advocate with a lot of praise (that and $5 will get you a cup of coffee, thx 2 Starbucks). |

Yeah, I'd really like to know how to use SH as well... I've loaded a file, let it index, and then auto analyze and it finishes after a very lengthy process. But then what? What do I tweak to fine tune the settings? Are things instant if I change settings? It appears to be a fairly complicated process, and not really all that self-explanatory. I thought I would be able to load the file, set the start and end of commercials manually, and the program learn from those changes, but I guess I misunderstood the purpose.
Where should I start after analyzing? |

So, what is the status of some documentation??? Really just something that tells me what the heck School House is supposed to do and basic things to change or try to fix missed commercials. I have paid for this product and need to make some tweaks, but there is absolutely zero documentation. Please just some idea of some things to try if commercials are getting missed. This thread is like 2 years old and there still appears to be no documentation what so ever on how to use this tool.
For example, I run a file through School House and several commercials are identified in green as opposed to red, what do I do???? I apologize if this information is buried somewhere in the forums, but I don't really have the time so spend all day searching the forum for information on documentation that should be included when you buy a product. |

Not sure what everybody is so confused about with using SchoolHouse. If you have a hint of computer savvy, it's quite simple to use. In a nutshell... If you have a show that doesn't seem to do proper skipping, simply load that show in SchoolHouse and adjust the settings until it works the way you want. Click on each setting and read the documentation in the test box below. After you have found a setting that works for that show, open SAconfigure and create a new profile. Copy the setting from SchoolHouse to the new profile. Associate the new profile to the show via Auto Settings under Global. So stop being so mean with the post's about SchoolHouse. We've got a great program here for a very reasonable price and for everybody that's using it for free and still complaining... shame on you. Just pay for it!

Hmm, I’m not so sure it’s that easy, and believe me, I’ve been a computer professional for 17 years – but then again, I do have a life and some social skills. A one page documentation (well, OK, two pages) is really all that we need! Something to answer the questions of what it is, how, when and why it is used. It doesn’t have to be volumes – really, just a quick start, considering we’re new to not only SH but SA too (so something like "Copy the setting from SchoolHouse to the new profile. Associate the new profile to the show via Auto Settings under Global", while it makes total sense to people who are familiar with both programs, it just doesn’t make sense to us!
Oh, and by the way, I did pay for my copy. |
