Default settings be observed

I am a new user to SA and SchoolHouse in the UK and having an issue with SchoolHouse, although being new it is probably a user training issue.

I was wondering how reliable is the recalculate that happens after the intial load when you change settings? e.g. I load CSI (Channel 5 on Freeview in the UK) with default settings and it hits the majority of the adverts. I use the block info tab to see what the issue is and make my change. LLP changed to 1.1 and suddenly all the Green that should be Adverts is Red, brilliant.

Except that if I make a new profile with the modified setting and reload the show I get the same errors, ie adverts marked as show. back to tweaking.

Any ideas?

P.S. The files are DVR-MS from Media Centre on Vista Ultimate.

There is a problem with SH that if you are using the "Percentile" preselector the results won't match that of SA. It is a very deep problem that I can only fix with a rewrite that is in progress. Sorry.

thanks for your quick reply. I did just mean SchoolHouse did not do the same thing twice, however nice to know the other aswell.

Looking through your forums I have noticed a number of people talk about Agressive Segmentation and Depth of Analysis, however I can't see the settings for this in the newer versions.

Are they still there?

BTW - Brilliant app, even though just starting out it has revolutionised my TV watching.

also noticed mine is set to 'Manual' so hopefully SA and SchoolHouse output should match?

whoops, actually in default.ini its set to '1' (which I presume is Percentile). Unfortunately upon loading SH it picks Manual depsite reloading the settings.

Kinda. The Aggressive Segmentation setting was broken up into three settings so that you can determine what types of transitions cause a break. The options are: Blank Frame, Scene Change, and Double Scene Change. The Double Scene Change is there just in case you get a scene change that covers 2 frames.
The Depth of Analysis setting was changed to the Preselector Threshold Setting.

I will investigate this!

Thanks,

Default Settings

When I try to select "percentile" or "scene change" in either the config tool or Schoolhouse then load the program again I get "manual" and "blank frame" selected... Have to do the settings through the ini files to get it to stick.

In theory, the "Save As..." button below the settings should save them.

If you're running Vista, this may not work due to how Vista protects the Program Files directory. I'm working on solutions.

If you click "save as" then it always returns to "manual" and "blank frame". It is almost like that is what is being saved even if you select something else in the drop downs. If you remove the ini files and let it build new ones then go in "percentile" is selected and it remains that way until you save the settings where it will change to "manual" no matter what you have selected.

I have removed the program including its folder and registry settings from both local machine and user sections, then reinstalled with the same issue.

Has anyone else had this issue?? Try going into the settings program and set "percentile", save your settings and then return to the settings program, did the settings get saved? The same thing occurs in Schoolhouse also. This is under MCE 2005 not Vista.
