I also get this exact error. Using Vista Ultimate x64. The window pops up saying "indexing" then crashes.
Almost by accident I found that if I load a file that is still recording Schoolhouse seems to work just fine. Did not have time to make sure everything was working, but no insta-crash. Tried the same file after recording finished and it crashed again. Crash is with both 0.9.7.1 and 0.9.7.2. Last edited by smstarrant; 12-22-2008 at 01:41 PM. Reason: spelling |

I have had this problem in the past with XP. Try this.
Right click on an .mpg file and use the "open with" command, select Schoolhouse. For me, Schoolhouse would launch but not automatically load the file, I had to do that manually but Schoolhouse didn't crash. After awhile, the problem went away,(?), and I didn't have to do the right click thing. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it (right-click, open with, then load) and it seemed to work the first time, but that was all. Subsequent attempts to open files went back to crashing, even the same file that had just worked.

I may be getting close to figuring something out. I ran across some Vista x64 codec pack that I had installed. I uninstalled them and I seem to be having more luck getting Schoolhouse to run. Not every time yet, and I did not have any recorded shows to work with at the time. It will take some more testing to be sure but it looks like I may need to "Run as Administrator" to get it to work, although it may just be coincidence that it ran when I did that.
Will update again after more testing. EDIT:UPDATE: It seems currently that I have to open an mpg then open a dvr-ms or it crashes. Also I have to click and hold the indexing progress window or it stops updating (not positive if the indexing stops or just the progress bar). Same thing for the main window during analysis. But the codecs were definitely causing part of the original crash problems, since I could not open an mpeg before I uninstalled. EDIT:UPDATE2: Do to a hardware issue, I upgraded the PC and did a fresh Vista x64 install. Schoolhouse now runs just fine, so it would seem I had some other conflicts going on also.
