I hope you guys (and gals) find this version significantly faster. One of my test files is a 90 minute HD recording. Historically, SAV1 has analyzed it in about 45 minutes. This version does it in 7 minutes. It doesn't take any shortcuts. I just found and removed some... "inefficiencies".

Just uploaded build 733. It fixes the problem with the service not starting. If you have installed build 732, then you will might have to uninstall it before you install this one since the version number didn't change.

Okay. The official version 1.0 build is ready for download. I'll upload the website tomorrow.

Changelist:

• Added the ability to always mark the beginning and/or end of a recording as Show or Commercial.
• Fixed 0% status on WTV files.
• Fixed ShowAnalyzerMaster service not starting.
• Removed the "Test" Tab in the settings dialog.
• Fixed the missing Directory Watcher settings.

Expect more updates to come. Development won't stop although I may take the weekend off.

This is a pure bug fix update. There are a lot of fixes so I rcommend everyone that is using any version of 1.0 update to this version.

This version addresses every crash report that I have received and most of the bugs that I know about. Here's what I fixed:

[ALL] Fix hard crash when opening master database when it is locked.
[ALL] Fixed several inter-process communication crashes.
[ENGINE] Fix common crash when determining audio noise level before any audio has been decoded.
[ENGINE]Fix common crash when saving logo.
[ENGINE] Fix common crash when checking for the presence of a logo.
[ENGINE] Fix common crash when searching for a logo.
[ENGINE] [UI] Fix potential crash when loading logos.
[ENGINE] Fix potential crash when calculating confidence level.
[ENGINE] Fix potential crash when calculating frame fudge factor.
[ENGINE] Fix potential crash in Video Index optimization.
[ENGINE] Fix several problems in the WTV splitter.
[UI] Fix potential crash when displaying details on active process.
[UI] Fix potential crash when moving the splitter.
[UI] Fixed percentage complete calculation on WTV files.

There is a known problem with H.264/AC3 WTV files that start with a wacky timecode. fredx21, that is the file you sent me. I was able to fix a few problems so that it doesn't stall out anymore, but the results are useless. That is my current work item.

Some of you have asked what my planned fixes and features are. As of now, they are:
1) Fix the H.264/AC3/WTV/Wacky timestamp problem.
2) Improve the default detection settings.
3) Bring the new version of the schoolhouse back.
4) Settings profiles (different settings for different files)
5) Metadata parsing of WTV/DVRMS files.
6) Metadata extraction from SageTV.
7) Closed caption/teletext decoding.

They are not necessarily in the order of priority. I write this software for you so I will work on whatever you (collectively) decide is most important.

If you compress your recordings and don't want SA do delete the artifacts, this update is for you.
If you experience any instability in SA, this update is for you.
If none of the above applies to you, this update is for you. (just kidding )

A note about the guardian extension:


Given any particular file, the directory watcher has 3 options:

1. Analyze it
2. Delete it
3. Do nothing

The choice on what to do is made like this:
If the file is in the video extensions list and no corresponding artifacts exist, analyze it.
If the file is in the artifact extensions list and no corresponding guardians exist, delete it.
Otherwise ignore it.

So, put extensions that you want analyzed in the video list. Put anything you want automatically deleted in the artifact list. Put the extensions that should prevent artifacts from being deleted in the guardian list.

That last one is a big deal. If you use WTV files and ShowAnalyzer has never worked for you or it one day it just "stopped" working, the odds are high that another program was interfering with SA. Now those evil filters won't be allowed to interfere. A large amount of thanks goes to Frank Filips who was kind enough to let me take over his computer to do some debugging for 2 nights straight. Thanks Frank!
