Exclamation Link to Beta 1.0- Those looking for it please read

All -

Jere seems to have gone missing again... There is no point in asking for a link to the download or anything like that. Each beta version has a timeout in it, so it quits working after it is a month old... And Jere has been MIA for over a month. So as of right now NO ONE is using the beta ('cept maybe jere)

I've given up and gone with the beta of comskip for the time being. Back when I first discovered comskip and showanalyzer I had no qualms paying jere for what I thought was a more polished, eaiser to use product. it's my hope that Jere succeeds with his new product.

Even though it's timed out I'm still using it to detect commercials and it seems to continue working in its existing state. I am not using the directory monitor portion so that may not work, but I'm not certain. I'm really getting a little worried about Jere this time. The places I normally see his name even during his disappearances he is missing this time. I hope the advertising companies didn't put a hit out on him.

In that case, someone share already!

I'm sure Jere is fine. He has disclaimers everywhere warning about his prolonged absences.

I just communicated with Jere. He should be checking in on the forum soon. I don't think there's a new beta, but at least a way to extend the trial for a while.

I guess I should have stopped in the forums before paying the money. $20 isn't a lot of money but $20 for a product one cannot use is like just pulling a $20 bill out of your pocket, laying on the sidewalk and moving on... not something I would even consider doing with a one dollar bill

I did the same and agree.

At the very least paying customers should be able to use their key to license any given beta.

What I find amazing is given the obvious interest in this app, which is in a position of a monopoly since the Comskip author just doesn't get it with .wtv support, represents a customer base which could generate a significant amount of money for Jere should he want that.
Apparently not?

To be fair SA is not the only really good MCE application that hasn't kept up. When I originally decided to build a media center I used vista 32 bit, and I tried a bunch of commericial skip/remove applications and thought I was going to be stuck with DVRMSToolbox. Then I found LifeExtender and that app was it. Yes it only removes commercials but it's very fast and just works. That with SA was perfect. But I wanted to use a HD PVR and that required either tv pack (which is dubious) or win 7 so since I was going to have to wipe the machine anyway (and it was only used 1 week) I decided on win 7 64 bit. Of course now LifeExtender no longer works, ShowAnalyzer no longer works and DVTB is pretty well bricked as well ( since there is no SA) for the purpose I want it for.

Hopefully the developers will catch up soon. If it were not for My Movies I would just move back to SageTV and forget the whole MCE thing all together.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for echoing my thoughts.

You paid for the current version, not the beta. If Windows 7 GA comes and goes and there is still no support for paying customers, then you can begin to vent. But as of right now, you are asking the dev to support an unsupported/pre-released operating system. Sure there is TV Pack, but again that was OEM only so you are using software even unsupported by MS, unless you are one of the few people that bought a machine with TV Pack preinstalled. If anything, take away from this experience to NEVER buy software for FUTURE features, only for features that exist today.
