Is it safe to say that for SA to work effectivley you need to develop individual profiles for each network?
Because each network does things completely differently from every other, yes. This is what profiles are all about
The idea is to get 100% on all channels, not just 80-85% as comskip did.

I don't think you need a profile for every channel. The default profile works 100% for me on most shows.
The few shows that don't work for me, we'll, I plan on using a different profile.

Should there than be some place to go and download sucsessful profiles for each network? I don't see a wiki here like there is on GBPVR but perhas there should be one.

This would make life a lot easier if there was a common place to store/access profiles.

I agree. As things progress, and people develop profiles for their own channels, there should be a central repository for them, such as a wiki.

It would take some organization though.
I don't think just anyone should post just any profile.
Maybe if 3 or 4 people tested a profile, and then rated the results.
If the profile detected (for example) 80%, then it would have a score of 8, and be posted.
If a profile wasn't that successful, and only scored a 4, it probably shouldn't be posted, so only the more accurate ones are available for download/copy.
(This probably deserves it's own thread).

That's a fantastic idea.
Who has the webserver and know how to implement?

Maybe if we have a thread for each country and only one person (possible per country) has access to post there.

Of course this thread needs to be stickied.

The problem I see now with the current threads are that everyone post their settings whether they have been tested or not.

This way if someone posts settings in the regular forum as a new setting, others can evaluate it. When this trusted someone feels enough people like it, they can post the settings in the countries settings thread.

I'd imageine that this trusted person should say, this settings work great on most channels, this setting works only well on CNBC or fox... sci fi, etc.

I created another forum to maintain settings. Although hopefully it will not be useful for long. Once SA starts learning, most of the settings will go away.

Jere,
When you say "Once SA starts learning". Are you refering to helping SA learn via School House, or some other 'smarts' that it will have?

I mean other smarts. The School House will eventually be used for (and was originally written for) telling SA what it did wrong. And even then you won't do that if you are using a PVR that lets you do that while you're watching TV. On the fly, as it were. SA will then learn and adapt without having to test and tweak settings.

That's what I meant.
