I PM'ed Jere regarding instructions on how to use the new SchoolHouse and he said he will upload them when he has time. SA gets some of the commercials but not all of em So I'm hopeing SH will fix that issue

For dummies like me, is there some sort of walk thru to tweak SA? I am guessing that is what schoolhouse is for. I paid for SA and set it up with DVRMS Toolbox as instructed to scan and auto skip commercials. However it only seems to work part of the time. Also, sometimes it misses commercials. I noticed it works great on some shows and awful on others. Can anyone help? I am on cable in the southeast United States. I would really like to get this working right. Oh and there are a couple files created when a show is scanned that dont seem to get deleted. I checked the box to delete xml files. Thanks for your time and patience.

I was just playing around with SchoolHouse and I have no idea on what settings to adjust to get show segment to not be marked as commercials. I think it would be a lot better if you could manually mark the commercials and then have SchoolHouse automatically adjust the setting to come to your conclusion on what is a commercial or part of the show. Kind of like teaching showanalyzer, this would make the name make a lot more sence. If this can be done then can someone tell me how?

Dirmon fulfills the same function as Filewatcher, it is not part of DVRMSToolbox.

Sadly, commercial detection can be a complicated process. For maximum benefit, you need to understand the basics of how commercials are detected.

I'm not sure where to start explaining. Start with getting the segmentation right. You will want the video divided into blocks that correspond to the show and commercials. The more accurately the show is segmented, the better the detection can be. Ideally, each commercial will be its own block, but that isn't always possible so don't sweat it.

Then adjust the scoring so that the scores of the commercial blocks are relatively high and the scores of the show blocks are relatively low.

Also, what the SchoolHouse shows as commercials doesn't exactly coincide with what the real output will be. I'll fix that in the next version.
