You have to understand that even though I wrote SA and DirMon, DirMon was not written specifically for SA. DirMon was written to support pretty much any automated task on new files. A default of txt would only make sense for SA or comskip as processors.

What the next version will do is a little common sense checking so that if a processor won't do anything then the user will be warned.

Thanks - you are awesomely psychic. Amazing abilities to see through my screen and figure out what's staring me in the face.. I do IT support from time to time, it's the things right in front of you that are the hardest to fix..

It's now running on my video directory just fine, now I've just got to plow through the various FAQ and postings to get Sage to recognize it, but I think I remember seeing tips on that elsewhere..

Thanks again!

Post Help with setup

Hi

I am having problems with setting up the triggers for Dirmon. It appears Dirmon is stuck in a continuous loop working on the same file over and over. I have entered "txt" in the does not exist field. I have also tried xml. I am using SA for the process. I have SA configured to generate the showname.xml file into the "commercialsXml directory used by DVRMSToolbox. My thinking is that ShowAnalyzer is not generating a txt file and Dirmon is not looking in the CommercialsXml folder for the xml file. Where does Dirmon look to find the triggers?

Another note, I know the process is working and SA is creating the .xml file. Because if I look in the CommercialsXlm folder I see the .xml file and the contents show the commercial locations.

Thanks
Steve

Just turn on the txt output in SAConfig. Then they will get created in the same directory as the video itself and DirMon will be able to tell what files don't need to be run.

That did it. This is a great program and is well worth the registration.

Thanks
Steve

Default Newbie Questions

I have several questions and I am not sure if you can answer them But here we go.
1st-Is there place that describes the settings and parameters so I will know what I am adjusting. The defaults have worked terrible for me. I just got done reading the settings thread so I am going to work with it.

2nd-Can you answer a question about the file that SA creates. I know that SA just makes a file for skipping the commericals, but I am using GBPVR and I can't make it skip the commericals. I am not sure if it needs the txt file or the vprj. I am also using a rename process that is changing the file name of the txt and vprj so I don't know if that is messing up the change skipping.

3rd-If I register SA can I get GBPVR to do the analyze during the recording and not after? If it is possible to have it run during recording do you know what settings are needed? I know there is a setting in GBPVR but most of the threads discuss using SA as post process. If I want to run during a recording do I knew to change the postprocessing.bat file to remove the commands for SA?

Thanks for your help.

Can't answer your first one, but numbers 2 and 3 are easier.
For SA to work with GB you'll need to output comskip-compatible txt-files (GB-PVR should support edls as well but it won't work at least on my system)
The registered version is able to detect commercial during recordings, and it's great!

Where is the setting for the text file? It is making the vprj file is that the one needed? Can you put an example of one in here?

In "Configure ShowAnalyzer" on the Global page on the "Global Settings" tab, there's settings for output. Select the "GB-PVR os SageTV" and change it to "when beginning processing" and "Native frame rate". That's all you need to do for it to work. Then configure GB-PVR to automatically skip commercials and to use SA for processing. It's really quite simple..

Default SageTV Server/Client setup

Hi,

I am trying to get ShowAnalyzer working with a SageTV Server/Client setup. I Took the following steps:

-Installed SHowAnalyzer on Sage server
-Installed DirMon on Sage server
-Installed ComSkip STVi on Sage server
-Installed ComSkip STVi on Sage client
-Made sure to use UNC paths (i.e. \\SERVER\SageTV) on the server and client for my recording directories.

I am able to auto-generate .edl files on the server, in my recordings directory. When I playback through SageTV ON THE SERVER, it skips commercials perfectly.

It doesn't work on the Client though, which is the whole point! I don't see any commercial breaks, even though the .edl file exists along with the .mpg file in the recording dir. I know it's looking in the correct place on the network, because my recordings are playing. For some reason it isn't reading in the .edl file...

Please help! Thanks...
