Question How is the score calculated and explanation of the "debug bits"

I've searched through the archives but I can't find any good posts on how the score for a block is calculated. I'm trying to tune my settings via ShowHouse...I see some commercial blocks that have a score of 80 and I see others that have a score of 4. Jere can you give us a rundown on how the score for a block is calculated? That and what length blocks are marked as low probability, what length are medium, and what length are high?

Also, what does each bit of the debug bits represent?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to better understand how showanalyzer works so I can tune things correctly.

Thanks

Thx, that does help some but there are still some unanswered questions. If you can answer these I'll try to combine all of this info into one post.

- Am I correct in my assumption that the initial score for all blocks is 10?

- what do each of the debug bits represent?

- what length blocks are considered high probability?

- what length blocks are considered medium probability?

- what length blocks are considered low probability?

- For the aspect ratio of a block to not match how different does it have to be? Say the show has a AR of 1.50, what are the min and max ARs that will be considered "not a match".

Yes.

I'd rather not go into it.

It varies, but typically blocks divisible by 30 seconds are high probability. 5, 10, and 15 second lengths are also high probability. Some of the more common combinations are also high probs.

Anything that is not a high probability but is divisible by 15 (sometimes 10).

Anything else.

Typically 4 lines of resolution difference in the top, bottom, left, or right are enough to flag a difference.

Something important to note on the lengths is that there is a tolerance built in that depends on the number of silent/blank frames on either side of the block. More silent/blank frames mean a bigger tolerance.
