Can this be done? I know it sounds strange but If I have a recording and run SA to find the commercials and then cut them out, I now have to extract the CCs (and not before, since positions change after cutting the commercials). It is in this circumstance that would be great to run SA again JUST to extract the CCs as it would be a lot faster, I think, not having to run the commercial-location process again. Also, as I've just posted in babgvant's site, If I am directing all this from DvrmsToolBox it does not even run the process since a commercial XML file exists for the recording (I don't know if this decision is mage by DTB or by SA) from the first time it got run and thus CCs don't get extracted, unless you change the name of the commercial-free recording, or change the name or delete the commercial XML file before, compicating any automation you may want to have.
Any thought would be appreciated. BTW great job with the pates version...much faster... |

Currently, no. This was possible at one point, but I didn't think anyone used it. Especially since mpg2srt worked so much better and faster for that purpose. Unfortunately it doesn't process DVRMS files.
I'll consider adding it. Jere

What I might be able to do is write a program that will take a cc file and the chapters.xml file and cut out the commercial sections and adjust the times. Would that be helpful?

Ok. I'll work on it. It would be a simple command line program that took 3 options:
1) What SRT file in 2) What XML file in 3) What SRT file out Jere

Here's what I usually do.
1. Record to d:\1\x.dvr-ms 2. find commerical and cut to d:\2\x.dvr-ms 3. run SA command line with option -srt on d:\2\x.dvr-ms to generate d:\2\x.srt When I run #3, does it mean SA finds commercials again? ****************** hi Jere - Wondering if cc output can have an option save as ANSI ? Currenltly it save as Unicode, and some programs have problem reading it. (eg. Tmpgenc Dvd author, DVDsanta, etc.) Thanks!! SP |

Regarding your ansi SRT question, if you pull up the ShowAnalyzer Configuration, in the global/settings under 'Closed Captioning Output' you''ll see for each supported format (SMI, SRT, SUB) and 'encoding' setting that can be UTF-16 (default - UNICODE) and UTF-8 (ANSI). Hope this helps. |

Hey thanks! It works well. And faster. Is there a way to make it write the SRT in ANSI instead of Unicode?
