Default SA Crashing on HDHomerun files (sometimes)

I've got a problem with show analyzer crashing when it opens a HD recording made with a HDHomern. It isn't every file, or even every episode of one show. I've seen an American Idol show do it, then the rest have been fine. Tonight I recorded a new House episode and it's crashing SA.

In both Showanalyzer and Schoolhouse when the file is loaded I instantly get the crashed program dialog box from windows. According to the Showanalyzer Configuration I'm running 0.9.2.232 which I believe is the newest version of SA.

What can I do to figure this out? I'm not aware of any logging that I can turn on, though I think it would crash to soon for logging anyway. The files are typically rather large since it's in HD running 5-6Gb I believe. For now I'm just creating a dummy .edl file that's blank to keep DirectoryMonitor form firing off Showanalyzer when I find one of these files. It's not an ideal soltion obviously, and some days I come home from work to fin literaly 100+ error boxes that I have to close (one at a time).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Good to see Jere's back too

The first step would be to make sure the HDHR's firmware is up to date. If that doesn't work, then you'd need to send me the file (or the first chunk of it). I'm sending you a PM with the details.

Thanks,
Jere

When you say the first chunk of the file. Do I need to edit the file in some program (like Video Redo) and cut out a chunk at the beginning, or can I just do a multi file zip and include only the first one or two zip files?

If I use Video Redo I was afraid whatever is causing the crash would be fixed in the cutting. However, if I just send a couple files of a multi file zip I didn't think you could extract anything.

Edit: Also, thanks for the quick response. I'll see if I can get something uploading tonight after work.

Please don't edit it! You are absolutely correct that VideoRedo will fix the stream.

What I mean is to just upload the first block that is rar'd up (i.e .part01.rar). Also note that if you don't want to upload the entire file then you must use WinRar because 7zip won't work on partial files.

Ok, I've got the first 2 'chunks' uploading now. Should take about an hour (my internet connection seems to be slow currently). Hope it's revealing

Any chance you've been able to look at that file? I've got another file that was crashing out that I could upload if you need more samples.

Just wanted to stop by and ask if anything was ever discovered on this. The shows that were causing the problems aren't showing new episodes right now so I haven't had any issues recently, though I do want to update if there was an error that was fixed.

All I can say for sure is that the files you sent me do not cause SA to crash.

Maybe that's good because the problem has been fixed. Maybe that's bad because the problem is further in. Let me know if you find any more crashes.

Thanks,
Jere
