Segmentation delay or shift
I suspected the problem after the first few days of using Showanalyzer together with both DVRMSToolbox and on its own to actually remove commercial segments from files, and then confirmed the same behaviour in Schoolhouse.
With some channels and shows, no matter what settings I try, the segmentation is time or frame shifted with a delay, meaning that commercial segments are accurately identified, but the time or frame stamp (not sure how it's done internally) shifts all of the segments forward in time, resulting in portions of the show being cut instead of the commercials.
For instance, if a 3 minute commercial break occurs 25 minutes into the recorded program, SA and SH both accurately identify the 3 minute break, but for some reason indicate that it occurs at 20 minutes into the show. This means that 3 minutes of the show are cut, while the entire commercial break remains intact. (These figures are for illustration purposes only - I've confirmed that there is a shift of exactly the same distance for all commercials in the same file, I just haven't studied multiple files to identify the exact shift.)
Anyone else seeing this? Jere, or anyone else, know how I can fix this? I should also note that it only occurs with some shows and is more predominant with certain channels.
