Default Don't call me stupid

I must be stupid cause I just don't understand how this soft works...

Installed it with DVRMS Toolbox, ran it, scanned one of my movies filled with commercials. SA came out with 2 files : a txt log file and an .edl file.

And that's it ! What's the point ? Can't this stuff gnerate a cleant dvrms file ?

No help file, No manual. I'm not sure i'm gonna donate for this...

It's not the hard to figure this software out. Pick a profile in the DVRMS ToolBox and it will do what you ask it to do. I use "Cut commercials out of a DVR-MS file and output DVR-MS" on the rocorded TV directory and output the DVR-MS file to a Tooled folder. The files in the tooled folder are commercial free. Or are supposed to be. I noticed that i may need to tweak some settings using SchoolHouse to get a little better results. I haven't figured that software out yet. But out of the box with a registered SA, i was able to do about 200 recordings in one night. Look at the forums if you have questions. It's really not that hard to figure out.

Good luck.

Not the best way to ask for help... if, in fact, that is what you are doing. Maybe you are just venting, hope you feel better.

Showanalyzer's only function is to locate commercials and output said information in various formats for other applications to either strip out the commercials (dvrmstoolbox, mencoder) or allow you to skip them (zoomplayer, mce, meedio).

Those are just a few apps that are compatible with SA... there are many, many more.

Now, now. I think the OP has a point. Some of us have been dealing with SA and commercial detection that we take some of the knowledge for granted.

To rectify the situation, I started working on public documentation. I quickly learned that I am completely incompetent at writing documentation. I just don't know where to start.

I do have some documentation that a very kind and generous user wrote up for version 0.5.8. It is woefully out of date. Would anyone like to take a shot at updating it? I'll throw in some really cool software that I bought to write the documentation. It ran me about $400 and is really easy to use... if you can write.
