Using DVRMSToolbox? How?

Hi...

I have tryed to use DVRMSToolbox with ShowAnalyzer to find some automation to cutting prosess. Buuuut... I get only mpg- and ts-files from DVBViewer so I get 'File is not a dvrms-file' error in cutting. What I do wrong or what? (I will get serious meltdown some days). I must find cheap combination of commercial finding->Cutting->xvid... Commercials ShowAnalyzer find best (must buy), cutting (VideoReDo is too expensive)... MediaCoder changes mpg/ts files to xvid 24/7 so please help?

I have looked at the output from Mpg2Cut2 and I don't think it is feasible to support it. There is simply too much information required for that file.

But if you find another, I'm willing to look at it.

Unfortunately, you are limited by the fact that you are starting out with a DVR-MS file. Those aren't that commonly supported yet. Additionally, MPEG tools tend to not be free because every tool that works on MPEG files uses patents that have to have royalties paid on every distributed copy.

My honest recommendation is VideoRedo. It is an extremely solid product that is worth its cost.

Yes, VideoRedo is good for cutting... Only thing when I did try it was that it's commercial finding is no so good so that why I didn't get it and also it cost so much more than I did have money.

Software what I use now days:
DVBViewer (15?) - Best DigiTV recorder program ever, works perfect.
MPG2CUT2 - Fast mpg/ts cutter (only thing is that ts subs go missing in action)
MediaCoder - Good media changer, keeps running 24/7 months... I use it to change files to xvid.

So only thing is that I get new not edited material 20GB and more in every day of week and my harddrive space... No need to say, I need xxTB of HD in this year and I have no money on that kind of hardware :-)

So about 300-400GB of not edited material on HDs (1.7TB), limited time to edit it and it is boring to edit file after file (60 is my record on one day) so I try to get foolproof system what don't cut wrong places and can run 24/7 if nessessary.

Also that start & end cutting (if there is cannel logo on start and end of file) and programs are only after and before programs so if there can be some setup to that so it knows to cut them out of file so there is no need to pre cut files?

I know that some 'clients' (like I) are so hard to deal (I have my own firm: http://www.mtauriainen.com where I have invoice/bookkeepping programs and so on... )

I'm unclear as to whether or not SA is working properly for you? If it is, and the issue is cutting/encoding to xvid, (I could never get dvrmstoolbox to work correctly) then this may help:

These are directions for using SA, DirMon and mencoder to convert dvr-ms to xvid. I'm not sure if the version of mencoder I link to supports mpg (I don't know why it wouldn't) but the nice thing is it reads edls output from SA.

I did edit about 50 files this evening... I am tired :-)

I did try this system, I only changet directories and 'dvr-ms' to 'mpg' and I hope now that it works :-) If it works then fine and but if not then

Seems that it will work :-) Fast look before I did come to work shows that it's slooooow... I put 3 files to edit directory, I had edit them to start from commercial so... Last of these 3 files was changing to xvid, all files was below hour of length so it is slow changer. MediaCoder did also job in night and it did about 10 files (changing mpeg/ts to xvid).... About 6 hours and only 2.5 files but MediaCoder in back can be power hungry with 2 or more threats.

So I put all of my precut test material to edit directory and hope best that there will be some progress when I come home from work

System don't cut right now. It keeps commercials and, ?h, don't cut anything out of files. I test one of my 'test' files what SchoolHouse shows and finds commercials but this new system don't cut them out? Edl-files are same in SchoolHouse and this SA, DirMon and mencoder system but it don't cut commercials out... So it seems that it don't work on my case... Videos are changed to xvid (I did put that script that it moves mpg and avi then to other directory when it has done job)...

Heh... I test VideoReDo commercial cutting places and also with SA cutting places (with VideoReDo) and SA makes much better cutting choices: VRD cuts wrong but SA makes soooo much better that it seems be only choice to get SA+VRD to this cutting problem of mines... Only thing is that SA is much more slower than VRD... Where to get 70$ = almost 50?...
