Introduction, praise, and a heads-up for Vista x64 users.
Hello:
I've been using SnapStream BTV for five years now, and just now discovered this magic you call ShowAnalyzer. Incredible! I bought VideoReDo shortly after getting BTV, but I could never seem to dial in the ad detection and ultimately gave up on it. As your Adminstrator acknowledged in a recent thread, the documentation is a bit sparse and it took some time to figure out. What really got me set up in a hurry was referring to a couple of configuration pictures which are in one of the stickies. The stock settings are nearly spot-on - meaning I merely adjust beginning and ending cuts, and all selections inbetween are perfect. Hopefully, I'll be able to adjust the script so I can just batch VideoReDo project files at the end of the day.
Just a heads-up for Vista X64 users...
I was enjoying Show Analyzer for less than 24 hours before it starting throwing exception errors. As it happened, I had downloaded and installed a Windows Update earlier in the day which was described as "Happauge Streaming Media and Broadcast" - a recommended update. Essentially what this did was to replace Vista's native PVR-150 support with a proprietary driver from Hauppauge, of similar vintage (1/2007). I rolled back drivers, and voila - ShowAnalyzer was back in business. I'm impressed that ShowAnalyzer was smart enough not to process the newly recorded, defective files - I had to manually force the file with the GUI to see the exception. Incidentally, all recordings prior to yesterday's Windows Update were processed successfully with SA, so I am confident that the WU was suspect. Indeed, the first recording after rolling back was properly processed by DirMon and SA. BTW: I just figured out that if you associate the VRD project extension with the VRD executable, you can save a few steps loading the project/video by just clicking on the project file. I don't know - maybe that was a no brainer(!)
Best Regards,
CF
