Default Hauppauge WinTV HD PVR (H.264) Ships, time for H.264 support

Now that the Hauppauge WinTV HD PVR (H.264) has shipped, it would be really good if H.264 support was available in SA.

Of course I agree with this... but as an intermediate step how about it at least gracefully handle these files (ie... create a blank edl so dirmon will stop queuing these up)

I will release a version tonight that will do this.

Hopefully, H.264 support will not be too far behind. That would be a huge coup, as there is currently no support for it.

Just curious... How is development of Commercial Skipping for the HD-PVR H.264 files coming?

I've got a question Jere, have you looked at all at just using a more generic decoding mechanism, that would end up supporting any file format? directshow maybe? It just seems that it would be the easiest mechanism, instead of coding a decoder yourself.

On that note, what DO you use for your current MPEG decoder currently?

h.264 is literally days away.

I have thought of bundling my decoder up into a DirectShow filter so that you could use it to watch the shows. That would relieve users of ShowAnalyzer from having to buy another decoder. I use PowerDVD 8's decoder now, but I'd like to see my decoder in action.

That's real good news. Have you been able to reduce the CPU requirements. The last word I heard from you was in May and then it was maxing out a quad-core on a single recording. I'm hoping to anallyze 3 concurrent streams in real time on a core2 duo.

If you did make it into a DShow filter would it take advantage of the hw acceleration in the newer ATI and nVidia cards?

That was on a completed recording going full bore. The goal was to max out every core so that the processing was done quicker.

3 concurrent live h.264 HD streams? I don't think the processor will be your bottleneck. Your poor hard drive.

Not likely, but it would make use of all the processors.
