Default Sound Problem

I have tried to get both Comskip and ShowAnalyzer working with SageTV. Although either programs processes the mpg files ok ( get edl, txt and log files), I am having a problem with the sound. This applies to HD programs only. The best way I can describe it is that the background sound (music etc) seems to be prevelent while the foreground sound such as people speaking is muted. Sounds crazy but that's what happening. Any idea on how to fix this? thanks

PS running under Vista Home premium and current version of showanalyzer. log file attached.

I ran into the same problem, with that exact same show. I belive it was a problem with the broadcast. somehow the transmision transposed the 5.1 audio. I have discovered that many OTA transmisions are dumbed down to stereo. Normaly in 5.1 the center channel is Dialog and primary audio and the surround and surround rear is the ambient sound and music. I believe this paticular episode had an encoding error that excluded the dialog channel or transposed the channels. i have not had this problem re occur as of yet.

The two programs I recorded last night have the same problem. I tried playing them in Windows Media Player with the same result , so I am thinking it not a ShowAnalyzer problems but a problem in Vista when recording a show through SageTV. Eventhough everything works ok when watching Live TV which is a form of recording.

Anybody has guess at what is happening here. Thanks.

Edit: forgot to mention that the commercials seem to play ok.

Think I found the problem. I am using AC3 filter and in checking the settings I noticed a seperate setting for voice gain and increase it. now things seem to be working ok.
