Default Windows 7 .wtv Support

Now that the beta is out for Windows 7 and it looks like DVRMSToolbox is going to support commercial skipping in .wtv files since MS fixed the TV pack MediaExperience bug in Win7(Commercial Skip with Win7 at ALL possible? - andy vt's tools & blog), is there going to be support for .wtv files in ShowAnalyzer.

I wish! If/when Microsoft releases a spec for wtv files then I will be able to write a demuxer/decoder for it and then I'll be able to support wtv files.

Until then you can use the todvrms command line program, found here, then you can use DVRMSToolbox to run todvrms before processing it with SA. Its kind of a sloppy workaround, but it does work.

But can this workaround with DVRMSTB and SA perform commercial detection and skip while recording or only after recording has finished?

I am about to pull my hair out with todvrms and it reporting bad durations. PLEASE try and prioritize this a little higher. I hear Andy's got a word out to some execs to get the architecture of the WTV NTSC files

I've talked to some of my contacts too and I haven't been able to get anywhere.

I am strongly considering adding a dshow demuxer to SAV1 that would fix this, but, ugh.

FWIW, I am completely sympathetic.

Do what you have to do

Way to stay ahead of the guys at comskip.

If you wouldn't mind, allow me access to the SAV1 beta and post about this fix if you do it.

You now have access.

And, when SAV1 starts supporting WTV files, I will be shouting it from the mountain tops (and now twittering it ).

That is the plan. So far it is looking good.
