Wrong edge profile every time

SA consistently picks up this as the edge profile.
It's annoying to say the least.
Shows that don't contain this particular ad, I have no trouble with, but it's a prevalent commercial, shown on multiple stations all the time!
At times, SA will eventually detect a correct edge profile, which adds another 4 minutes to processing time.
As it is, it takes 6 minutes per hour of recording, then if a second edge profile is found, it adds time, and if yet a 3rd is found....

I thought that I had made SA score the "wrong" edge profile different than the "right" profile. I'll add that for the next version.

I asked at the very beginning of writting SA if accuracy or speed was more important. The vast majority voted for accuracy. If you want to improve the speed and decrease accuracy you can always turn off the edge profile detection by setting all the edge modifers to 1.

I tried that. With various results
What does seem to work, about 75% of the time, is Positive match =1, negative=2, and unknown=2.
This works great on all shows that don't have that particular commercial.
Sorry if I sounded like I was complaining about the speed...I wasn't really, as accuracy is obviously the priority, and 6 minutes is no big deal.

I really shouldn't complain at all, because (thanks to schoolhouse) I'm getting 100% accuracy on shows that don't have that commercial, and have a black frame before and after all commercials.
Shows that don't quite go completely black before a commercial, I'm having a bit of a problem with, and find that 2 profiles are needed.
I'm working on the second profile now, and it may produce better results on this commercial anyhow.

Again, let me say thanks for the great work on this, and truly the mantra is, "Death to all commercials"!

I've yet to find a profile that detects commercials even slightly accurately for one channel. (It has no black frame at all in commercials or programs )

What channel?

Channel 4 in the UK. Turning on agressive segmentation helped (because it then found some segments) But show and commercial seem to evaluate very much alike.

All I can suggest, is to run Schoolhouse on a recording.
Take note of the "Length Determination" on the info tab.
See what's definitely a commercial.
See if it's Low, Medium, or High.
Adjust the number upwards, in whatever category it falls in...
eg. A commercial is determined as HIGH.
On the Settings tab, change the High Probability Length to a number greater than 1. I have mine set to 2, as the highest.
If it's determined as Medium, try 1.5
If it's determined as Low, try 1.1
Click Apply Settings.
Has the block changed to red?
If not, increase the number another 10th (one decimal place, from 1.5 to 1.6 for example).
Apply Settings.
Keep doing this, until that block turns red.
Check the other red portions, and see if they are really commercials, and what the determination is on them.
Adjust as needed.

Actually thats more or less the strategy I'd adopted.

I think the problem is that I have both commercials and bits of show labeled as ' low probablity', 'medium probablity' and 'high probability'. They also usually have the same score so increasing the values to mark a segment as a commercial also marks several bits of show as commercial as well. I guess they get marked as the same probability because I have bits of show that are 22 seconds to 62 seconds, and bits of commercial that are 24 to 66 seconds.

Oh and the commercials and show segments have the same edge profile as well (mostly 0 with the very occaisional 2).

Try adjusting the min and max times.
I had similar problems, until I started playing with min commercial, and min show times.
I now have min commercial at 9.5 and min show at 180.5

@ Jere. I fussed with edge detection numbers, and finally got SA to ignore that annoying commercial! Thanks for leading me in the right direction
