I am about to spend several hours trying to find this answer, but in the meantime, I thought perhaps someone could offer a solution. I just got the sa1 beta installed and configured with dvrmstoolbox on vista media center tv pack 2008. For those of you who don't know, tv pack 2008 uses the same .wtv format as windows 7. If I open the showanalyzer interface I can see it finding shows i'm recording and analyzing them. It shows the commercials as red and I see new information in the form of what appears to be like meta information being put into my "recorded tv" folder. However when I go to playback the recorded shows in media center, the commercials are still there.
I found this tutorial.......
The Digital Media Zone » Blog Archive » True Commercial Skipping in Windows 7
showing how to use the new sa1 beta and dvrmstoolbox to remove commercials in windows 7. The only part of the tutorial that I could not follow was in regards to the "win7 rc1 dtb addin installer" which I think makes media center know to skip the commercials, but I'm new to this so I could be entirely wrong. These instructions of course were for windows 7 and windows 7 media center, so I guess my question is, what am I don't wrong, should dvrmstoolbox and showanalyzer 1.0 beta be working already with default options? is there a windows vista commercial skip plugin im missing?
Any help is appreciated!
