I have SA 9.7 and DM 2.5 and I'm noticing some odd
behavior that I didn't see before. While a show is taping (using sagetv) Dirmon will run and detect the new mpg and start SA to process it. However, since it will finish processing the show (or whatever is there up to that point) it doesn't seem to ever revisit that file again. Which means it will never update the edl file to include any future commercials. With the old version it seemed like it wouldn't stop processing an open mpg until sagetv was done recording - it looked like it would detect commercials almost as they were recorded. Did something change in Dirmon (or showanalyzer) that would explain this? I have a feeling that I may need to uncheck the "process file even if it is being written to" checkbox but I'd really prefer not do since I liked have the real-time detection. |

Nothing changed. It should continue reading the file as it is written.
It is possible that your write caching has increased. Try increasing the wait time in the settings of ShowAnalyzer. Jere

Thanks for the reply. To make sure I have the correct options:
"Live Detection Delay" is already set to "-1" "Live Detection Hold Off" is already set to "0" These seem correct, right? Should the SA window/processor go away before the show stops recording? I just ran a test: - started to watch a show - DM detected the new mpg so started a new instance of the SA processor - a new system icon appeared to indicate it was processing - when SA reached the end of the file the window/icon went away When DM ran again (in 5 mins) it didn't detect that the currently recording show needed to have anything done. I would have expected the first SA to never complete - or am I not understanding how things should have worked? -Doug |

That is the problem. -1 means don't wait. When the end comes, the end comes. Change that to 10 (meaning 10 seconds). That way when it reaches the end of the file it will wait up to 10 seconds for more data to be recorded.

I've changed my setting to 10 now. We'll see if it improves. |
